Please note: Pembina Valley Pride is not a registered charity, therefore no tax receipts will be issued. In order to be recognized as a registered charity, we would have to forego any political activism and that’s something we simply aren’t willing to do.

where do funds go?

While our biggest event of the year is our Pride March & Rally, Pembina Valley Pride has vital programming throughout the year that requires funding. We’re grateful for community support that allows us to use some spaces free of charge, however there are expenses for supplies.

ANNUAL PRIDE MARCH

Our annual Pride March & Rally is a time for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies to come together for an afternoon of connection and. Part of Pembina Valley Pride’s mission is to create accessible and diverse programming that meets the needs of all Rainbow community members.

Making Pride an accessible event for everyone includes expenses like hiring an ASL interpreter and sound professional, and renting a large tent, tables, chairs, and portable restrooms.

MONTHLY SOCIAL EVENTS

We host monthly games nights in Morden, Winkler and Altona. The games night is a safer space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies to gather for some fun!

Follow our Facebook page or our calendar to stay up-to-date on news about this and other events!

OCCASION CARDS

Whether it's a birthday, anniversary, coming out day, transition day, or anything else, we love to help our community celebrate important milestones! This is especially meaningful for people who may not have supportive family or friends to celebrate with. We send physical cards in the mail or digital cards via email.

Admin costs

As a proudly Rainbow-led, volunteer organization, Pembina Valley Pride has relatively low admin costs, with most expenses coming from website maintenance. Our website is a key tool in reaching our geographically dispersed Rainbow community we serve across the Pembina Valley and beyond.

Advocacy & outreach

We use our website and social media platforms to reach people but at times we also use ads in the local papers for Pink Shirt Day and other awareness days.

We are committed to paying people for their time and experience, whether it’s a speaker for a virtual event, speakers or performers at Pride, or mental health support workers. However, at times we have had people generously donate their time and expertise.

Community fund

In response to rising incidents of hate driven theft and vandalism, we started a flag fund to cover postage and provide replacement flags to people who have been impacted. We have renamed the fund to better support community members in times of need.
